Gaeilge Texais
Organized
in 1997, the group has performed at céilithe (céilís), benefits,
and festivals, including the West Belfast, Northern Ireland Féile
an Phobail in 1998. Cór Gaeilge performs a diverse range of songs
- from hymns to drinking songs, and marches to lullabies. In addition
to performing, the group also teaches, locally and at festivals,
as an important element in maintaining interest in the ancient linguistic
and musical heritage of the Gaels.
Jonquele Jones
took the overall women's singing honors in 1999 at the American
National Mòds sponsored by An Comunn Gaidhealach Aimeireagaidh (ACGA),
the Scots Gaelic learning organization.
Cór Gaeilge
Texais is sopranos Beverley Muldoon and Jonquele Jones, altos Denice
Brown and Jenny Waites, tenor Wayne McCall and baritone Paul MacGregor.
