Lone
Star Ceili Band
The
Lone Star Ceili Band is one of Texas' respected custodians of traditional
Irish music. The ensemble gives a worthy representation of traditional
"ceili" bands as found in Ireland. When the LSCB plays for dances,
the language of Irish music causes "hearts and feet to dance at
the joy of it." If the success of a ceili band is measured by how
well its music inspires the dancers, LSCB has put together a winning
combination of players.
The members
of LSCB are accomplished players of traditional Irish music, including
Mimi Rogers on fiddle; Allision Hicks on piano; Peggy Fleming on
fiddle; Ken Fleming on button accordion, concertina and banjo; Kevin
Alewine on flute, whistle and banjo; and Daniel Lowery on flute,
whistle and uilleann pipes.
The Lone Star
Ceili Band accepts a variety of engagements: ceilis, contra dances,
stage shows, festivals, celebrations, weddings, and more. It also
can provide music and/or ceili dance workshops.
