Paddy
League
A
drummer, percussionist, and multi-instrumentalist known for his
sensitive touch and wide sonic palette, Paddy League is renowned
as one of the finest bodhran players in North America. With
a background embracing Indian tabla, jazz, Afro-Cuban and Middle
Eastern percussion as well as traditional Irish and Celtic music,
Paddy's unique approach to the bodhran and his multi-instrumental
versatility has made him a much sought-after performer, clinician,
and session musician.
A popular teacher,
Paddy is on staff at the Swannanoa Gathering (at which he has taught
for four years) and Zoukfest in Weston, Missouri. He has performed
at the National Geographic Society's Grosvenor Auditorium, the Kennedy
Center in Washington, D.C., the Milwaukee Irish Festival, and many
other Celtic, world music, and jazz festivals.
Some of the
notable musicians Paddy has performed and recorded with include
Connie Dover, Susan McKeown, Paddy Keenan, Sean Tyrrell, Gerald
Trimble, and Al Petteway; he was also recently featured in Bonnie
Rideout's "A Scottish Christmas".
Paddy regularly
teaches and performs at the Prism in Charlottesville, Virginia,
where he is house percussionist. Paddy is also the featured percusionist
with The Tiehackers at the 2001 NTIF.
