JUDITH
ROMERO learned to play the harp while stationed in Asuncion,
Paraguay, with the Foreign Service. She moved to Texas in 1982,
and expended her repertoire to include Celtic music when she became
involved with Scottish and Irish activities, such as Scottish country
dancing, the North Texas Irish Festival, and Scarborough Faire.
EVELYN STONE has been a music teacher for over thirty years,
and added harp to her other musical interests when her husband built
her one. After meeting Judith at Scarborough Faire, she invited
her over to see her harp. Judith was delighted with the sound of
the Paraguayan and Celtic harps together and suggested that she
and Evelyn become a duo.
Judith
and Evelyn chose the name "ParaCelt" (pronounced "Para-Kelt") after
their Paraguayan and Celtic harps, and now perform regularly at
public and private events. Over the years they have added recorder
to their performances, and have increased their repertoire to its
present three to four hours. They made their first professional
cassette tape, "ParaCelt Presents" in 1989, and now have 5 tapes
and 4 CD's.
