Chris Grotewohl

Chris GrotewohlBreaking ground in Irish traditional music, Kansas bluegrass veteran and 5-string banjo player Chris Grotewohl won high praise for his 1997 solo release Under the Influence. A technical virtuoso, Grotewohl has toured and recorded with Sunrush, Roger Landes, and Gerald Trimble. Known best for his original tunes, Chris, like his brother, fiddler Dan Grotewohl, is truly extending American traditional music by revisiting its Irish roots and creating a unique sound on instruments with a distinctly American heritage. Grotewohl also plays new instruments to Irish and American music, bouzouki and didjeridu. He's performed at North Texas Irish Festival, Walnut Valley Festival and has been on staff at Swanannoa Gathering. Chris is also a professional pilot and FAA Flight Examiner in his spare time.
